Game Sound Design Full Sail University Project

My teacher created these games in my Project and Portfolio 2 class at Full Sail University. My objective was to create the sounds for the games my teacher designed. Here is a Demo Reel showing the sounds I created inside the 5 games.

Sound Design Demo Reel

In this Demo Reel I have created different sounds for 5 different games. In the first game "Game Object" my teacher gave us a folder with various sounds to pick from. I then picked 3 sounds to make up the function part of the power up sound, 2 sounds to make up the sparkle part of the power up sound, and 2 more sounds to make up the woosh part of the power up sound. When the sounds are combined with some edits you get the sound you hear in "Game Object". In the second game "Interactibles" I got a chance to record my own sounds. For the first sound you hear I split the sound into two categories, click and pop. I recorded and edited 3 different click sounds from objects around the house and 2 different pop sounds using my vocals. For the second sound you hear I also split the sound into two categories, motion, and squeak. I recorded and edited 5 different sounds for the motion part of the sound and 4 different sounds for the squeak part of the sound. At first the squeak sound didn't come out quite how I would have liked so I went back recorded a new sound and removed 3 sounds leaving you with the sounds you hear in "Interactibles". In the third game "Environmental" I recorded ambient sounds around my room, these sounds included the microwave, refrigerator, air conditioner, and my PlayStation 5 exterior fan. I also recorded the shower in my bathroom. My teacher showed us some editing techniques to make the shower sound like space ambience. I also used other techniques learned in class to recreate different sounds out the sounds I recorded. Finally, I took the sounds recorded them together and turned them into a loop giving you the sound you hear in "Environmental". In the fourth game "Complex" I used 2 different synthesizers, Alchemy and Retrosynth, to create various sounds. I then split the sound into 3 different categories, Blackhole Loop, LightShaft Loop, and SpinningDust Loop. For the Blackhole Loop I used 2 sounds one I created using Alchemy the other I created using Retrosynth. For the LightShaft Loop I used 4 different sounds I created using Alchemy and for the SpinningDust Loop I used 3 sounds I created using Retrosynth. I then edited and stacked the sounds in Protools and turned them into loops, giving you the sounds you hear in "Complex". In the last game "Projectile Weapon Sound Design" I made 3 different sounds for the projectile weapon. The first sound was used recording sounds with my Zoom H5, the second sound was created using sounds created by synthesizers, and the third sounds were created with a combo of the Zoom H5 and Synth sounds giving you the sounds you hear in "Projectile Weapon Sound Design".
